My apologies, I've just now seen that this topic was recently addressed. I am one with my shame.

I'm currently working my way through PHP & MySQL for Dynamic Websites (4th ed.), and enjoying it very much. I'd like to move on to this book next, but the publication date gives me pause. Five years is a very long time in web development -- is this book relevant for someone learning for the first time? Or would I be better off waiting for a new edition? Thanks in advance for any advice!
