Hello all, Chapter 8 makes a website template and I think the concise.min.css on the Github code is messed up (it's all on one line, no spacing). For those struggling with the layout, here may be the solution. The header.html, index.php, and footer.html were not showing up correctly in my browser (but still functional). The way I solved this was replace: <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen" href="css/concise.min.css" /> with <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen" href="https://cdn.concisecss.com/concise.min.css" />

It seems that I am needing help a bit lately and I hope that I am not over-doing it! Suddenly, for no reason that I can ascertain, images displayed in an HTML table, which is generated by PHP, are ignoring the associated CSS parameters, but only in IE9 and IE10. Works perfectly in Firefox. I am assuming that there is an error somewhere in the CSS which causes IE browsers to ignore those parameters, but so far I have been unable to find the error. Here's a bit of the code: echo "<tr> <td align='left'><input type=\"checkbox\" name=\"checked_trans[$key]\" value='$woa_name' /></td> <td align='left'> $gal_name</td> <td align='left'> $woa_name</td> <td align='left' class='table_icon'><img src='$icon_file_name'></td> <td align='left' class='woa_image'><img src='$woa_file_name'></td> </tr>"; and here's the CSS: .admin_table td, .admin_table th { border: 1px purple solid; font-size: 75%; vertical-align: top; } .admin_table tr { color: black; } .table_icon img { width: 40%; } .woa_image img { width: 50%; } The problem is that the 'woa_image' is not scaling to fit the width of the table column. The image is 1100px wide and scales to 50% of the table column width in Firefox, but does not scale at all in either IE9 or IE10. Can anyone advise where I am going wrong? And why this suddenly may have started? Any help will be most appreciated. Necuima.

Hi, I have been looking at profiles on Behance, some of which are what I would call 'pitches' (individuals putting their ideas/designs forward for how they would design/development popular websites), some of these designs are art/artistic, some are UI/UX. But one thing I have noticed is that all the images/pictures showcasing their work all look 'Clean, Crisp and really sharp'. Now when I develop a website on a PC it never looks as sharp as what some of these individuals are showcasing, So are they using MAC's with Retina displays which makes them look so nice, or is this web development done in Photoshop, below is an example of what I mean http://www.behance.net/gallery/E-mail-client/8626803 So what do you think ?

Just wanted to recommend a website called CodeCademy.com. They offer free courses in Javascript, html, css, Ruby and several other languages and courses. It works kind of like a lot of those new apps you find on your phone. You get a task, you provide an answer, that answer is validated, and you can move along to a new course once finished. People learn differently, but I diffidently need to write code alongside learning. For those new to JS, I would definitly recommend reading Larry's book along with these tasks. You'll find out you learn a lot fast and in a fun way. Some of the tasks involve several revision of a black jack game, a cash register and other fun tasks. You also get trophies from a point system considering how well you've done. A very enjoyable and good way to deploy JavaScript code. Has anyone else tried it?

No matter what I do the length of my text area does not change. I can change the depth. I am testing my site on three different browsers and it comes out with either a scroll bar or a tab that the user can pull to a different length. I would like a set box so that the user can see what they type and know how much space they have to use. My text areas are about 1-1/2" wide and I would like it to be 4" wide. I do not see any CSS that would be overriding it. This is the code from the Knowledge is Power web site in the forms_function.inc.php. I have changed the depth to 2 columns. I have tried several different configurations of code but it does not change. // Start creating the textarea: echo '<textarea name="' . $name . '" id="' . $name . '" rows="2" cols="150"'; Thank you, Marie
