  1. Hello All, I have an app underdevelopment, that can be seen here. http://74.208.77.106:8080/UnlockSpanish/ I am posting with a question about the listbox that is seen in the column along the left side. This box displays different spacing on different browsers. On Firefox there is a large spacing between lines (about 1/8 inch gap between each line). Very nice appearance. However on Chrome, Safari and IE, there is almost no gap at all. The result is the listbox looks very crowded. I would like to check here with the forum if there is any options availble to adjust spacing, or if some possible hack would accomplish this result. Very appreciative for any advice.
  2. Hi, I have been looking at profiles on Behance, some of which are what I would call 'pitches' (individuals putting their ideas/designs forward for how they would design/development popular websites), some of these designs are art/artistic, some are UI/UX. But one thing I have noticed is that all the images/pictures showcasing their work all look 'Clean, Crisp and really sharp'. Now when I develop a website on a PC it never looks as sharp as what some of these individuals are showcasing, So are they using MAC's with Retina displays which makes them look so nice, or is this web development done in Photoshop, below is an example of what I mean http://www.behance.net/gallery/E-mail-client/8626803 So what do you think ?
  3. Hi All, I am pretty new to JavaScript and just completed a js program with html5 using Firefox 19.0.2 to test the software. I used Geolocation and Google Map V3 API to render the current location and a hardcoded address with markers. The second marker for the hardcoded address will not show up unless I have an alert statement. Any suggestion before I post the code and HTML. Thanks very much.
  4. Hello, Admittedly, I am new to php but not writing html code or css. I am a high school Mathematics teacher but was a techie/codemonkey in a previous job-life. I have a class website that I provide for my students and it has become too difficult to maintain in static html. So, I bought your book to make the switch to dynamic websites using Php and MySql. I followed along, stripped the headers and footers first, put everything else in a .php file and called the header and footer with includes. Worked beautifully after I beat the CSS into submission. Here is my problem: Every page in my website renders correctly using php with the included files, css3 and html5 in IE9, Firefox 4 and above, Safari and Chrome. The orginal html page renders correctly in IE7, IE8, and IE9 and the others. Original html page in IE9 on left, IE7 on right A real PHP page from my website in IE9 on left, the same PHP page in IE7 on right Any help you can give me will be most appreciated. I have several of your books and I have been reading here for a little while but I can't find a solution to my issue. Please feel free to visit the site and recreate what I have posted. http://www.zachsmath.com (BTW, the home page script works perfectly in all of the browsers using the same css files.) I am beyond frustrated. Thanks in advance for any tips or clues you can provide on how I can fix this. ZachsMath
  5. I just finished your books on PHP and am wanting to focus my efforts now on more front-end development. Even after doing research, I'm still caught wondering if I should invest my time in learning Flex since everyone is quick to suggest that anything related to flash is dying a slow death and HTML5 is the future. Recognizing the incredible investment it takes to be well versed in a new language / framework what would you suggest? Does Adobe Edge suggest that Adobe is even moving away from Flash, AND their is the ultimate big gorilla of iOS mobile development never happening for flash. I hope I haven't thrown to many questions at you, I would just like to know of the best route to go considering the trends / future needs and your advice has never failed to be spot-on.
