  1. I have a website that I am going to turn into a store and I am reading your book. It says that it might be best to use an ssl connection only on pages where it is needed. I don't know how to implement ssl only on specific pages. How do we do that. Right now I only know how to either add it to every page using the .htaccess file or not at all. What code do I use to only make some pages secure? Because if I only use https on some links, if I click on a page of my site that doesn't have https and then click on a page that does, my browser then makes all the other links I click on in my site use https too. Is that normal. That is also after I remove my .htaccess code that makes all pages contain https.
  2. Hi Larry, In the book you mention that you cannot test Paypal's IPN process from localhost (page 169). Are Stripe payments fully testable from localhost? Also, none of my few websites need or use SSL so I have no experience in using HTTPS. It seems that the website owner will need to obtain a certificate, but when I checked the Digicert website there are a number of different types of certificates available. The website that I'm thinking about would have a very low volume of financial transactions in the range $100 - $200 each. Can you please advise what sort of certificate we would need? Many thanks in anticipation.
  3. Hi there Am I right in saying that without the SSL being enabled, checkout.php, billing.php, and final.php will not work and will just show up as a blank screen? Thanks
  4. I'm developing my site with shared hosting ssl certificate. As Larry describes in the book, I'm trying to use the session id from the http pages after I get to the https pages, and be able to go back and forth. From home page I click login, I log in and my code tries to redirect to loggedin page. But between login and loggedin there is a new id generated. That is what I think is happening. So that causes my loggedin page to fail because test says user is not logged in. And this will also cause everything else to fail but this is the first thing I'm testing. Here is the code I am using, at the start of each page: (I pass $sid in the url) // Start output buffering: ob_start(); // Start the session: // if the session is available from the url use that otherwise start a new session if ($_SERVER['REQUEST_METHOD']=='GET') { if (isset($_GET['sid'])) { $sid = $_GET['sid']; if ($sid > 0) { // I set it zero when there is none echo "
