konfused
I have a small forum that uses INNODB storage for two tables. I now need to add a full text search facility and this means changing the two tables to MyISAM storage. I see that in phpMyAdmin this can be done quite easily Are there any precautions I should consider before converting the tables. I am worried that I might trash my database. HartleySan
I honestly don't know off the top of my head, but if you simply back up your DB before trying, then you have nothing to lose, right?
konfused
I think the problem has solved itself. I have just discovered that with the advent of MySQL 5.6.4 INNODB now supports full text searches. That is good news, It seems that MyISAM is being gradually phased out.

Antonio Conte
There should be no problem converting them. I know for a fact I've done this myself several times. The only problem I've had is when I've changed collations or decreased column size. Always take simple precautions like backing up your tables anyway.
konfused
Many thanks to all who answered my cry for help. Antonio's reply was particualrly welcome as I am using the latest version of XAMPP which does not contain version 5.6.4 of MySQL.
