Jabo
I have an old Mac laptop with OS 10.2.8 that I want to download MySQL and PHP to… but I can't find any links for this particular operating system. Any suggestions (besides get a new computer, I'm poor but I want to learn this stuff)? Installation advice would also be appreciated. Thanks, Jabo
HartleySan
Install Linux? Edit: If you just want to install PHP and MySQL to learn, you can use XAMPP for Mac OS, etc.
Antonio Conte
Second that. Xampp would be the best choice.
Larry
XAMPP requires Mac OS X 10.4. MAMP, what I use, requires 10.6. Your best solution, I think, would be to manually build PHP and MySQL. That's not going to be easy (at all), but is the last straw for getting a working version on your computer when no pre-compiled versions exist. Antonio Conte
Did not know that. Larry: Are you completly sure? Xampp can be installed on portable devices/etc. Could this be a possibility, or would it still be an OS issue here? Larry
I'm only sure in that I went to the XAMPP Web site and it says that the installer requires Mac OS X 10.4.
Jabo
It looks like XAMP has a version for OS 1.7.3 that should work on my laptop (located at http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-macosx.html, scroll down below the current version download). Thanks to all for the help.
Jabo
OK… I'm an idiot. What I thought was the Mac OS version (#10.1.7.2), was really the XAMP version #. It doesn't work on my old laptop but does on the new computer (with OSX 10.4). Jabo
