Hi Larry, Have you come across a restriction re access to localhost in the latest version of Windows 10? Prior to the latest version, my XAMPP/localhost scripts were all running perfectly but since the 'upgrade' to the latest version of Windows 10, now there is no access to localhost at all, not even to phpinfo.php. I have tried several different browsers and they all exhibit the same restriction so it seems nothing to do with the browser. I have Googled extensively and it seems that it is a known 'feature' of the latest incarnation of Windows 10 with lots of suggestions on how to deal with the restriction but so far anyway, all the 'fixes' that I have tried are to no avail. Are you aware of this? If so, do you have any advice on how to fix this? Thanks, Necuima

Hi Larry, In the book you mention that you cannot test Paypal's IPN process from localhost (page 169). Are Stripe payments fully testable from localhost? Also, none of my few websites need or use SSL so I have no experience in using HTTPS. It seems that the website owner will need to obtain a certificate, but when I checked the Digicert website there are a number of different types of certificates available. The website that I'm thinking about would have a very low volume of financial transactions in the range $100 - $200 each. Can you please advise what sort of certificate we would need? Many thanks in anticipation.

For some years I have used a server when developing php scripts but now need to use resident php/MySQL on my laptop. I have changed passwords as instructed on pp 594 using phpMyAdmin from the Control Panel, and in config.inc.php. Oddly, MySQL allows me into tables and the like but now refuses access to the home page:... localhost / phpmyadmin / index.php?db=db etc. etc. Any explanation? (Spaces are to prevent the forum from creating a link) I have installed the whole kaboodle via Apache friends and php scripts work fine. However, when I use the 1and1 server, I can program it to automatically look at a subdirectory (e.g. main/index.php) when a URL is called (e.g. www.sonningmowers.com). The question is - how can I do that in php on the laptop? Is it the line in config.inc.php: $cfg['Servers'][$i]['user'] = 'root'; and should I change it to: $cfg['Servers'][$i]['user'] = 'main/root';...or the like? Thanks for the support.
