Stored Procedures

Recommended Posts

Is there a way to save stored procedures using the SQL command line? I was trying to use the 'routine' tab included in the phpMyAdmin interface but I continue to receive syntax errors. Also, do these procedures get stored like tables? Are they visible on the sidebar of the phpMyAdmin screen?

You absolutely can create stored procedures using the command line. Same syntax.

The procedures do get stored like tables. And they're part of a database, just like tables. Whether or not they're visible in the sidebar of phpMyAdmin depends upon the phpMyAdmin version, I believe. I forget when that is or is not supported.

the routines tab in phpMyAdmin displays any stored procedures and allows you to modify the content which is helpful. I was having a problem creating them using this option. I was getting syntax errors, probably because I was including the delimiters.
