What is Larry Thinking? #11 => Adobe AIR

In this edition…

About this Newsletter

I’ll start off with my traditional suggestion that I’m going to try to keep this newsletter short. I rarely do, but I think it’s something that I ought to say, maybe even try. This newsletter focuses on the Adobe Integrated Runtime (AIR), which I’ve been playing with for almost a year now and working around the clock with for the past three months. The book I’m writing on the subject is almost done and should be out in in early May. I’m going to give away 10-15 copies in this newsletter. I’m also going to be doing a half-day workshop on Adobe AIR at the Voices That Matter Web Design conference in Nashville, Tennessee (US) in June, so I preview that opportunity. Finally, I add a few words in this newsletter about the Adobe AIR experience, both in writing the book and in using the technology. As always, thanks to the feedback and questions people have previously submitted and please keep it coming! And, of course, thanks for your interest in what I have to say.

What is Larry Thinking? #10 => OOP, Frameworks, and the Story of My Dryer

About this Newsletter

Well, it’s been another month since my last newsletter, so here’s another installment. I didn’t get much feedback on the previous one, so either you’re all as busy as I am or it just wasn’t that interesting. In any case, in this one, I’m going to answer some more questions posed by you all over the past few months. As always, please keep your feedback and questions coming! And, of course, thanks for your interest in what I have to say.

What is Larry Thinking? #9 => PHP 6

About this Newsletter

Well, it’s been almost a month since my last newsletter (how time flies), so it’s time I put together another installment. Perhaps if I made them shorter, I could get them out faster, but brevity isn’t my strong suit… That being said, I’m going to try to make this one brief (brief-er, at least), with just a smattering of topics. The feedback on the last Q & A newsletter was very good, so I’ll do another one of those in the next month or two. As always, please keep your feedback and questions coming! And, of course, thanks for your interest in what I have to say.

What is Larry Thinking? #8 => Lots of Questions and Answers

In this edition…

About this Newsletter

In the last book giveaway, I requested that people send in questions or topics for future newsletters. I received over 50 emails with lots of good stuff in them. Rather than answer one question at a time over a decade, I’ve decided to bang out a bunch of questions (with corresponding answers) here. I apologize that I wasn’t able to reply to every email and that I can’t answer every question immediately, but my thanks, as always, to people for their emails and feedback. Keep it coming! And, as a reminder, if you need a question answered, use the forums.

What is Larry Thinking? #7 => Apple, Macs, and Mac OS X

In this edition…

About this Newsletter

This newsletter is all about Macs: my favorite applications, Mac OS X, what I think about Apple, etc. Although it’s such a Windows world (unfortunately), a smattering of people on this list are Mac users as well, so I wanted to share some thoughts with them (i.e., you). In my next newsletter, I’ll start addressing some of the many, many, many questions and suggestions I received as of late. If you have your own preferred Mac applications or tips or tricks or whatever, please feel free to share that with me by replying to this newsletter. This newsletter may be a little less polished and organized as my others (not that they’re pristine) but hopefully there will be something of use to you here.

What is Larry Thinking? #6 => "PHP 6 and MySQL 5 for Dynamic Web Sites"

In this edition…

About this Newsletter

So it turns out that a month–how long it’s been since the last newsletter–can go by pretty quickly! Most of my time has been spent finishing the the third edition of my “PHP and MySQL for Dynamic Web Sites: Visual QuickPro Guide”. I’m very happy to say that the writing is done! I’m just looking over PDFs of the chapters now. The book will go to print this month and be out in December. I’m therefore dedicating this newsletter to this new book, including giving away some copies.

I’m also planning on sending out a Mac newsletter within the next week. It’ll only go out to those that checked Mac/Mac OS X as one of their interests when they subscribed. If you’d like to get this next newsletter, update your subscriptions (there should be a link at the bottom of this page). Alternatively, you can always view newsletters online at http://www.larryullman.com/tag/newsletter/. My thanks, as always, to those that provided feedback on the previous newsletters. Please keep your questions and suggestions coming.
